Aww -- no, no, no!\n\n//Anyone// can make a game. There are lots of game making programs out there that allow people to make games without an ounce of programming capability -- http://www.twinery.org, for example, which is what this was made in.\n\nAnd only //you// can make the games //you// can make. You have ideas, don't you? Sure, someone's guaranteed to have thought of at least some of those ideas before. But your unique collection of experiences gives you a different perspective than anyone else. You can make something unique. You just have to Start
Ah! Sorry. Didn't mean to pry.\n\n<<display LDAnyway>>

What are your hobbies? Your responsibilities and achievements? Who do you hang out with?\n\nI like to program and to weight lift. I enjoy cycling. I play games to write about them and to relax and as a way to enjoy the company of others. I like reading -- both in English and in Japanese. I love models and figurines, though I don't like owning a lot of stuff and mostly enjoy them from afar. I don't put models together myself because if I must choose a creative pursuit, I would rather write or sew or program. And singing and acting are such an inherent part of who I am that I almost forgot to include them here.\n\nI live halfway around the world from where I was born, a third of the way around the planet from where I was raised. I have a degree in Japanese, but I teach English. I have a certificate that says I can understand Japanese at the business level, though I failed a kanji certification test back in June -- one that could be passed by just about any Japaense second grader. I'm the daughter of a Jamaican immigrant to the United States (and became a spy for the U.S. Army) and a white woman born in Texas and raised in New Mexico, and I am the only person in my nuclear family who has a college degree. (Though Mom is working on hers now. <3 GO MOM! :D)\n\nMy closest friends include a conservative, pro-gun Christian who believes that gay people are going to hell but have every right to do so if they wish; a woman who grew up in poverty and when her parents didn't fulfill their duties, proceeded to work on top of school to keep her family in food and utilities, then got a job and dragged herself into the middle class in spite of having to raise a kid straight solo out of high school; someone who is brilliant and creative and could do anything they want if they could just conquer their anxiety problems; and the most penny-pinching person I have ever met in my life. I get along fabulously with all of these people, but when I try to host parties things get akward because none of them get along well with each other.\n\nI am at the intersection of a thousand thousand little worlds. You are the intersection of a //different// thousand thousand little worlds. That's true of everyone, and how and where those worlds intersect makes us who we are.
It's Ludum Dare weekend! The theme will be announced in 30 minutes. Are you ready?\n\nReady for LD\nNot Ready for LD
The $busyWith variable does not exist at the start of the game. EARTHQUAKE!!!\n\nYou get to the ground next to your computer desk just before the roof collapses. Your desk protects you, though it and your computer pay the ultimate price. Luckily no one else was home -- your significant other was walking your snake at the time.\n\n...\n\nHonestly, I didn't have time to actually finish this Ludum Dare entry. If you haven't already, I suggest you Start and check out the branches about not being ready to start; I did get those done.\n\nOtherwise, you should totally check out the other games people made for http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/. Ludum Dare is a game jam. It's a weekend-long online event in which people all over the world make games from scratch (or mostly from scratch) with a 48- or 72-hour period, hopefully in keeping with a theme the community has voted on. They upload those games to the Ludum Dare http://www.ludumdare.com/compo and then spend a few weeks rating other people's games.\n\nThere aren't any prizes for getting high ratings, overall, but many Ludum Dare games get developed for commercial release later. Either way, a lot of neat ideas come out of it. People from all over the world enter, each bringing their unique collection of experiences to the table.\n\nThis Twine game was made for the 30th Ludum Dare, with the theme Connected Worlds. Although it doesn't ask you to really make an LD game of your own, that's the setup for this interactive story. Why not Start\n\nIf you want to keep up with Ludum Dare news, you can always keep an eye on the {} hashtag on https://twitter.com/search?q=%23LD48&src=typd.
